NEW YORK (March 7, 2022) – Mariner Investment Group today announced some exciting changes to its leadership team. The seamless evolution of the management team reflects Mariner’s methodical planning and ongoing talent development and will occur over the next several months. Mariner is confident that these developments will position the firm to continue delivering strong risk-adjusted returns in a fashion consistent with its historic standards since the firm was founded 30 years ago.
Bill Michaelcheck, Mariner’s founder and current co-CIO, will transition to become Vice Chairman of Mariner Investment Group. Bill will continue as the Chair of Mariner’s Investment Oversight Committee, where his experience and insight will continue to be important to Mariner’s firm-wide investment activities. Additionally, Bill will continue to provide his leadership as a member of Mariner’s Executive Committee, Management Committee, and Risk Committee. This transition will become effective June 30, 2022.
EG Fisher, currently co-CIO of Mariner, will become the firm’s sole CIO. The evolution of EG’s role is in recognition of his exceptional performance since joining the firm in August 2019, which includes his invaluable guidance in his role. EG will continue to work closely with Dan Bradley, Mariner’s Chief Risk Officer, to ensure all of the firm’s portfolios are managed in a risk-focused manner in pursuit of high risk-adjusted returns.
Important to note is that these changes, while significant to the overall management of the firm, will not directly impact any of the underlying portfolio management teams on the Mariner platform, or the products they manage; we are confident that the planning and ongoing talent development supporting these changes have the firm well-positioned to continue to deliver strong risk-adjusted returns for all our investors.
